Update on Plett Protests

Ratepayers Association chairman, Neville Petersen has spent many hours in the last two days talking to political activists and community leaders to determine the underlying reasons for the political unrest.  No one is willing or able to come forward with a reason behind the protest.

Some claim they want a change of councillors but in terms of our Constitution and electoral laws, once elected a councillor holds office for a full term and not even the political party he represents can lawfully remove him from office.

The Ratepayers Association is meeting with the special advisor to Premier Winde and the Constituency MP in Plett on Monday, and later in the week with other political representatives, including the ANC, to discuss the situation further.

We will keep you informed.
