Water And Sewerage Year-End Report
· PBRRA

Dear Members,
We wish you all a Happy New Year!
Attached are our Water and Sewerage year-end reports.
For too long Bitou has neglected to address the budgetary needs to keep the bulk infrastructure for services adequately maintained and ahead of development to prevent the possibility of catastrophic failure. This needs to be urgently addressed in future budgetary priorities by our politicians and senior officials. The Ratepayers have a meeting scheduled with Bitou on 13 January to discuss their water plans and timelines.
Bitou's sewerage treatment plant also requires urgent attention. The attached report identifies the actions required, budget needed, and vacancies that need to be filled. Six additional qualified Process Controllers and three Assistant Process Controllers are required by law for the management and operation of the two Sewage Treatment works and fifteen new semi-skilled labour positions need to be filled for sewer maintenance. Considering Plett's high unemployment rate, we will urge that these semi-skilled positions get filled as a matter of urgency.
We will be keeping a close eye on Bitou's service delivery performance and will keep you informed.
Kind regards,Tony Blignaut
