Renewal Of Ratepayers’ Subs

Please note our AGM will be held at 5:30 on Thursday, 26 February at PV Community Hall.

Dear Members,

The Plett Ratepayers' committee and I would like to wish all our members a prosperous 2026 and take the opportunity to thank you for your valuable support over the past year.

This year is starting off as a challenging one with the water management crisis and ensuring adequate funds get budgeted for maintenance and expansion of water and sewerage infrastructure, and above all proper working plans effectively managed to their conclusion.

Management's and specifically the Mayor’s first order of business for the year is to draw up the budget for the 2026/27 financial year and to set the tariffs and taxes for adoption by Council. It is absolutely essential that realistic tariffs, compliant with the Constitutional imperative that they must be sustainable and affordable, are properly determined by means of cost-based budgeting.

We cannot do our work without our members’ support so that we can present a strong and united front in our efforts to ensure that Bitou municipality’s motto of “Being the best together” does not become a meaningless phrase.

In the hope of inspiring council to do the same, we have not increased our subs which remain the same at R600 per annum.
