Premier Alan Winde
Western Cape
Dear Premier
On record you have committed yourself and the DA to fight corruption. This is an objective with which we, the Plettenberg Bay Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association, identify.
You know that, in an effort to promote this aim, we have repeatedly asked Minister Bredell to provide us with the 2019 report into corruption in Bitou. We have also suggested that he provide it to those of the Bitou councillors – the DA representatives – from whom it has been withheld. For reasons best known to himself, he refuses to take either step. When we solicit an explanation, he has fobbed us off with lame excuses and now simply ignores our letters.
When we previously asked you to intervene, you explained that you were precluded from doing so. The rationale, whatever its merits, has been overtaken by events and is no longer pertinent.
We therefore repeat our request. Could you please secure the release of the forensic report to us and our elected representatives who require this information in order to properly represent the residents of Plettenberg Bay and to fulfill their statutory duties?
Kind regards,
Peter Gaylard
Chairman
